Thank you John Siekirk !!!!!!!

I almost gave up. My wife and I was in a horrific accident that almost took both of us on May 2017. (https://www.concordmonitor.com/tilton-nh-crash-puts-pittsfield-nh-sanbornton-nh-men-in-hospital-9747789 ) We both suffered, My wife broke her ankle and her knee in two places and wrist and had to get a plate installed, and she hit the windshield. Me I broke 10 ribs and damaged to my nerve in neck that control's my hearing and swallowing. I had 9 operations so far trying to keep my esophagus (stricture) tube from losing it's normal function. I had to sleep in my recliner because of ribs couldn't lay flat. Life has been a big struggle when both lose income at the same time. My children stepped up and took control and kept us in our house and I cant be anymore prouder. Well any way I was talking with John through here and John understands and I felt a great relief there's more to life then sitting around and suffering. I told John I was thinking of giving up on modeling. I called a guy and he looked over everything and said I'll give you $ 5,000 for the lot. I laughed and said I got over 30 kits of FSM AND SRMW'S ALONE NEVERMIND EVEYTHING ELSE!!! 20 plus totes full,But after talking to John and family I'm gonna try to get going after Christmas and start building. I'll never build all but I will build some. Thank you John and the men and woman here, Honestly this site helped me decide. Thank's Dennis

We can't prevent all bad stuff from happening in our lives and the common thread among the best of us is their ability to never give up.

You and your wife have had a bad time, but y'all are plowing ahead with your lives and  making progress.

You keep moving forward Dennis and know that our little community is pulling for y'all and better days ahead. Looking forward to seeing your builds in the new year.  :)

Dennis,

From a law enforcement view point, I know recovery both physically and emotionally, takes quite a while prior to getting back to normal, if at all possible. Hope all is getting better daily.

Modeling has always been a big stress release for me so I'm happy to see you considering getting back to the workbench.

There are some great people on this forum and it's one reason I love it here.

Great news! I think you will find a lot more than $5000 dollars worth of therapy in those bins. We are all pulling for you and will be waiting to take a look at the pictures of your models.  When you are ready I want to have a joint build thread of those Roundhouses we have been talking about. Let us know if you have any questions or need some help.  You will find a lot of great people on this forum, ready willing and able to help.

Dennis,
Just got online and saw your post. It appears you and your wife have come a long way since the accident. Hope the rest of the recovery goes more smoothly.
Never give up. That's easier to type than to do, I'll grant. But you might try setting a date for your first post here showing us all your return build. Post it in your reply maybe and then you'll have a goal to aim for. And the post will  let us know how you're doing.
Best wishes.
Working on my second million. I gave up on the first.

Dennis, wishing you and your wife the best with your recovery. This is a good group of modelers always willing to help with any type of support. Start small and stick with it, modeling has helped me through some rough times!

Dennis,

Several years ago I was struck by a tree while skidding logs out of the woods.  My humerus was badly broken as well as my wrist.  The extent of the break as well as the two surgeries caused nerve damage in my right (dominant) hand.  I lost most of my fine motor skills.  In addition to physical therapy I bought several very inexpensive laser kits and built those to help me regain my fine motor skills.  I still have issues from time to time caused by the nerve damage such as numbness in my hand that I am experiencing as I type this.  I also excel at dropping small parts I am holding with tweezers.  I credit my desire to continue modeling and the skills re-gained with assisting in my recovery.  One of the surgeons said that he expected I would lose the use of my thumb, happily he was proven wrong.

Bottom line, it is a great hobby.  I am glad that you decided to keep your kits and start modeling when you have recovered enough to do so.  My suggestion is to pick out some inexpensive kits when starting to help you regain skills lost due to the accident.  Looking forward to seeing your work here.

Dennis,

I hope you and your wife continue in your recovery.  As others have said, start small and work your way up.  There will be some frustrations, but keep at it.  Looking forward to seeing some of your work here in the near future.

Jeff
