TGIF Nov. 8, 2019
« on: November 08, 2019, 06:05:49 AM »
Guess I'll open, this chilly Friday.

May be building a few O scale kits, for a person who also volunteers at the Transportation Museum. Kits from a mfr called River Leaf Models, but he isn't sure they are still selling. He's in process of trying to contact them.

We'll see.

Be safe, all.

Good morning and a happy Friday to all.  One of my buddies is coming over this morning to help me on the layout, then hopefully I'll put in some bench time on a kit I started.  Enjoy the day!

Thinking day today.  I finally ripped out my expensive, self-adhesive, vinyl photo backscene due to incurable bubbling. (Yes I did use a roller and laid it on flat on a new, clean hardboard/masonite surface but this was an after the event phenomenon.) The backdrop here is 24" deep and in the UK the best sky sheets I can find are only 15". I do have tall flats there and need to do some measuring to see if they will do. Otherwise more drastic surgery may be required. Ho hum

Morning all,

T.G.I.F! is right.   :)  Just gotta suffer through a day in the cube and then it's sweet freedom for the weekend.   ;D

Have a great one!

Good morning.

My grass is white.  Wind chills in the teens.  The moos have frost on their whiskers.   How did this happen?  Did we skip straight to January?

Errands this morning, then I'm hunkering down until spring!

First official 32 degree morning in Reading country for fall 2019.
Still fighting the last remnants of the Timonium crud I got two weeks ago. The upside of the bout is two weeks ago, I couldn't even spell bronchial pneumonia.
I know there's train stuff involved in the day: not sure what yet.
Stay warm, all.
Working on my second million. I gave up on the first.

Morning, all.

It's a frosty 16 degrees here this morning, high will be barely above freezing.  Work again today, but off for both weekend days.   8)

Morning,

The sounds of the garbage trucks rolling past the house is refreshing to wake up to.

Good morning! I'm working on the railroad, today. Two kit builds in progress and some track work issues to fix.  Dr. Jeff's weather forecast is not good - that nice cold air he is sending mixes with our nice warm Great Lakes water to make snow. Lots of it. My trees are still full of leaves. :o  Oh well, nothing I can do about it - back to the basement.  I hope everyone has a great day.

I started the first in my 'production build' of a group of 28' boxcars.  The subfloors are cut on the mitre saw, then the end blocks are cut from the same stock.  I have to rip a bit off of NESL peaked subroofs to accomodate the car width, I figured out a better way to do that and will add a photo for the next time.  I drilled holes for truss rods using a jig, and also marked the location of the needle beams.  Metal bolsters were epoxied in place, and I also used that epoxy for the queenposts.  Tomorrow I'll do the truss rods, add weight, and start on the car sides.
