I'm not sure if we caught an area under repair?  I'm sure George will see it in the picture and fix it. There was a dremel grinding wheel in one of the previous pictures.  George told me it flew off when he was working in Franklin (years ago).

Probably infrared sensor, look on the RH side of picture, there is another tube thingy with wires coming out of the wall ?T.C.

Interesting observation, this is not the first "electronic device" like this that I have observed in the pictures.  I did a better job of editing on the previous pictures.  ;) I will ask George about it the next time we talk.
