Tuesday the 13th
« on: August 13, 2019, 05:28:45 AM »
Morning All,

It's been a busy summer and I haven't done much more than check in. I'm heading back to NY Thursday to help get my Mom situated at home and to celebrate her 88th birthday...she's leaving the Rehab facility after having been in the hospital for 4 weeks with Lyme Encephalitis. Scary stuff...infections in old folks create very dramatic results. This is a completely independent, healthy person and suddenly she didn't know who or where she was or recognize family members!!! Like Scott Adams says-we are just "moist computers". She's doing better but still has a ways to go. When we tried to illustrate how robust she is (not a typical 87) by saying to the doc, "just two weeks ago she was driving herself up to Cape Cod"...to which he replied, "Cape Cod? Everyone on Cape Cod has Lyme disease this year" :o ...anyway, my modest train goals have been even more modest with Mom, work, and a summer vacation BUT I WILL at least dry bush the strip wood for the siding on my SWSM Woodcutter's Shack (which is now just a well organized unboxing with some stained strip wood). I'm trying to work on my patience in model building but I'm getting a little too good at it ;D

John - I hope your mother continues in her recovery. Is she still living in the Pelham Manor house?  Jim

Morning all,

Best wishes to your mother on a speedy recovery John!

Not much to report on this end.  Hopefully the kitchen remodel will wrap up this week.

Have a great one!

John,
I can empathize with your situation. Sitting back in Columbus with no kits and no tools while my wife visits with her 99 year old, bed ridden mother. The upside is visiting with the grandson we don't set to spend much time with.
Looking forward to going home next week.
Have a great one, all.

Morning, all.

Hope your mother gets well soon, John.  I'll be on Cape Cod in 2 days, thanks for the warning.   :o Here one more day of work before a week off.  Notice this fighter is from Massachusetts.

John, wishing your mother a very speedy and healthy recovery. Dan, wishing he same for your mother.

I just got back for a Colonoscopy so I'm going back to bed for a long nap. No modeling for me today.

Ya'll have a great day.

Wife has a lot of problems that are associated with Lyme exposure (including some auto-immune issues), and a friend's teenage son is basically disabled from it.  Nothing to mess with!

Today will be annoying, a mix of sun and rain.  It was starting to rain when I took the dogs out, now it's sunny.  T-storms later this afternoon.  I need to drag the tablesaw out and make some rip cuts.

Good morning! John and Dan I hope your moms have a speedy recovery. I'm going to work on the wiring for the layout expansion, today.  I will be on Grandpa duty for the rest of the week - I'm taking my Granddaughter on her first boat ride. My daughter and two Grandsons are also coming along. We have plenty of water - all of the Great Lakes are at record high levels. I hope everyone has a great day.

Question of the day: Who is going to the Narrow Gauge Convention this year?

Well, will try to say hi again. Have not been able to for a while. Sorry to read about your Mom John. My son caught Lymes when we were at Cape Cod. Was not fun.

All good here. Doing some modeling and will be taking Canada Rockies Train in September.  Have great day.
