Wednesday, August 7th
« on: August 07, 2019, 07:07:11 AM »
Morning all,

Just another hump day in the cube.  On the home front the kitchen is starting to come together.  The backsplash was installed yesterday.  I've had enough of camping out in my own home and am impatiently waiting for that project to get wrapped up.   ;)

Have a great one!

Good morning! The rail gang had a good OPS session last night -  lots of trains were run and all of the worlds problems were solved. If they would only listen. I'm working on the layout this morning, then Grandpa duty calls.  I hope everyone has a great day.

Morning all.

Excellent weather, here, today. Need to do a bit of work on the pickup truck.

Bob, I sympathize. We did a major in house makeover, last year. new floors, new heat/AV unit with new air outlets, walls painted in every room, etc.. My wife and I slept on a mattress on the floor for about 3 months, and slept in 4 different rooms during that time. Was so glad when it was done.

More work on the kits today.

Be safe, all.

Jim

Morning, all.

Up and heading off to work.  On our remodeling front I'm still waiting for them to come tear out the fireplace, which was supposed to be done by last Christmas.   :o  At least they never started and I'm not looking at a hole in the wall.

Hot and humid outside in SE PA.  Storms this PM to lower temps and humidity, but they'll be gully-washers and windy.

Why is it the remodeling jobs (kitchens, bathrooms) seem to drag on forever?  Crews aren't paid for time.  Friends went away for two weeks allowing contractor access to their home and when they got back, not done, with dust all over....and the demo work was done by my friend before they left.

Often, the problem with on-time completion of projects is the un-availability of parts/components.  The best bigger contractors have the ability to pre-order (pay for and store) needed supplies.  Other guys have to order stuff and hope it gets delivered on-time.

The guy who did our kitchen did a great job managing supplies, so he finished on time.  The guy doing our bathroom was a little late because (a) tile subcontractor started late and then (b) the glass shower doors came in late.

add:  Here's the air-dry clay in between rock castings, raw and primed.  I'm adding more rock castings along the left bank, will add some tomorrow on the right bank (once another set of castings are dry :-) )

That's what threw us off schedule.  We had picked out a 60/40 sink with the smaller side on the left and larger side on the right.  When they ordered it they found out it was no longer available from their supplier.  We had to pick out a different one from a different manufacturer.  Then, it wasn't delivered in a timely fashion and the counter top people did not want to make the countertop without the sink in hand (can't say I blame them).  But, it finally came in and we now have countertops and a, non-functioning at the moment, sink.   :)

Just found out that the appliances are being delivered tomorrow for installation on Friday so that means the electrical and plumbing will have to be completed by Friday as well.   :D  :D  :D
