George would like to announce two open house events in conjunction with the Springfield show.

The F&SM will be open on Thursday, 1/27 and Friday, 1/28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day, weather and Covid permitting. Please wear a mask and present your vax card to enter. Future dates are coming, so please visit another time if you are experiencing any cold symptoms.

Thanks to Dan Raymond for suggesting the idea, George will be open Friday, 11/26 from 9-noon.

The Official F&SM Layout Thread! / 2021 Open Houses
June 21, 2021, 06:30:45 PM
George has asked me to make the following clarification based on an unauthorized post here earlier today.

There is NO F&SM open house this Saturday or at any other time in June. He is planning open houses for July and August and, when he decides on Covid-related mitigation, will announce the dates and details very soon.

Kit Building / Re: FOS The Wacther Apartments

I read-up on everyone's projects daily on my i-devices. My modeling has mostly moved to Facebook. Hobby on!

Such a marvelous collection...great reference and historical archive. Thank you, John, for the time you've spent on these.

Very much enjoying your thread, Bob, even though I can't often post. Love this building...on my build short-list.

Jimmy just resurfaced yesterday, joining us on the F&SM Facebook page. He's considering beginning to offer some of his products again, but on a much more limited, just-for-fun basis.

Better to be safe.

Anyone know if Doug has made it back into the U.S?

Love that shot of Stromboli, soon to be replaced. Thanks, John!

Got you on the contact list, gents. Tom, I can't speak for George re: how long the visit will be. He gave us five hours last year and that pretty well pooped him out, and with his ongoing recovery I wouldn't want to push it. I'll be happy to enjoy what time he gives us.

That's really great textured paper...you'll like it.

Whoa! Now THAT's a pigeon!

It's always special to see the reactions of first-time visitors!
Thanks for helping make this an event.

Jaime

As you may know, this began last year when a group of us ("The Expo Orphans") were bummed about there being no Expo and yet we still wanted to get together. George was very supportive and seemed to really enjoy our visit. We decided to try and make it an annual event for those that can only travel occasionally. It's a mix of friends from here on the Forum, Facebook, and HO Scale Customs. As of this morning we're up to 30, including tentatives and spouses. Some will drop...we'll get others... Last year's group of 20 or so was perfect...not too crowded...enough to make it worthwhile. All credit to George!
