Baggage Car - Daily Chat / Wednesday, October 13th
October 13, 2021, 06:49:59 AM
What's this? Friday the 13th came on Wednesday this month! Ya' can't count on anything any more!!
Must have gone to bed too early last night as Reveille came way early this morning. Mrs. S. is doing an family related overnight tonight, so I'll have to find something to do.
Note to Jaime: we're out of donuts and Kcups.
That's all I've got. Have a peachy day.

Say it ain't so, Joe.
8 AM, I'm "on vacation", and had to unlock the door!
Come on, slackers. Let's get with the program. The day is one third gone.

Baggage Car - Daily Chat / Thursday, Jun 10

Happy Thursday all.
Waiting on the repairmen. Parts for the fridge arrived yesterday now that it seems to be functioning properly. No word yet on the A/C replacement.
Keep smiling and make lemonade from those lemons before they spoil.

Baggage Car - Daily Chat / Sunday, April 25th
April 25, 2021, 07:13:43 AM
I would have opened this morning, but I've lost my door key.
Guess I'll ask Santa Claus for a new one as Christmas is only 8 months from today.
Off to find coffee. Enjoy a great spring day wherever you are.

Super Detailing / Track questions
August 18, 2020, 12:12:39 PM
Don't know where else this would belong, so it's here.
Starting track laying and asking for some comments/suggestions/experiences. I want to use Micro Engineering track: that I know. I've checked with two dealers who "will check and get back to me" regarding product availability. I've also looked at Fasttracks website and checked their videos. Their process doesn't seem any slower than using ME flex track (if such an animal exists). My quick math tells me that hand built turnouts using the FT products is actually less expensive than buying new turnouts. There's a learning curve involved, but time I've got.
Interested to see or read any experiences with either process. And, oh yes, thanks in advance for any posts or responses.

Kit Building / Forgive me for I have sinned
October 04, 2019, 12:14:18 PM
In that I'm way late to the party, I have the following ridiculous question, but please bear with me. (TiA)
First step in kit assembly is, after the obligatory photos, apply a coat of AI to the walls, both sides.
How do I prevent warping? Kit is tab and slot construction. Interior brace prior to A&I even though there's no interior bracing in the kit instructions?
All suggestions appreciated after you're through snickering/guffawing at my ignorance.

Okay, you shamed me into this.
I've got a bunch of partially done craftsman kits somewhere around the basement, partially unpacked or undiscovered. Sad confession: never completed a craftsman kit nor built a layout, but 2019 is the challenge year to change all of that. I looked at some of the rest of the stash, but this one comes with great directions and a lot of back resources.
First step is to figure out how to post photos here. And the second step is to ask for comments and criticisms. This is going to be a learning experience, and to quote the infamous Sergeant Schultz, "I know nothing".
Good luck to all the other builders in this journey. Hope your posts are not copyrighted as I may be stealing some ideas and techniques.

Kit Building / Good news and bad news
May 20, 2018, 04:07:41 PM
Does anyone have a set of instructions for FSM Kit 115, Coal and Sand Shed?
One of my Tuesday night operating group guys  works in a nearby hobby shop. I bought #115 from the store at a Jamie price ($16.00 +) after he emailed the group about this "find". It's been sitting on my desk for a few weeks and when I opened it this afternoon, all the parts appear to be there, still bagged and all, but no directions.
If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it. I'll reimburse for any costs involved.
Thanks in advance.

1. Posting on Modelers Forum / Scrolling notices
March 04, 2014, 06:15:57 PM
When I log onto the site, a whole series of black dialog boxes scrolls up the right side of my PC screen. They scroll too fast to read.
Hw do I stop the scrolling long enough to read them, or where do I review them on the site to see what's of interest?
