Good morning!  We are making progress it only got down to 0 less night.  or -0 if you want to go by the weather on my phone. I'm getting some serous modeling time in so the weather is not bothering me a bit.  I attended a local OPS session last night - we ran trains and solved all the world's problems - if we were in charge.  I hope everyone has a great day.

It's cold when your minus 30 below windshield wash freezes in the garage...
Tommy

Yup - Tommy - if that stuff was to spec. you are having some cold weather.  I wouldn't use it on my car windshield.

Good morning! We are in day three of single digit and negative at night temperatures. I spent a little while cutting some of the trees that fell in the wet heavy snow followed by wind this past weekend. Really made a mess of things. The snow was so wet that it froze to ice when the cold came in behind the storm.  I'm 12 inches taller walking around the yard.

I have been spending a lot of time on my modeling this month and have made a lot of progress.  I'm having fun. OPS session tonight - it has been a few months since I have made it to our local group.

I hope everyone has a great day.

I need to look into a trip down to Florida to visit one of Tom's Saturday meetings. It sure sounds like you guys have fun with it.

John,

I did get my FSM Encyclopedia, much appreciate all the work you've done getting it to us. THANK YOU!

I've been wearing jean and jorts (jean shorts) since middle school.

Tom

Sorry Tom

Regional terminology issue.  Where I grew up (Michigan) we were having shorts weather or jeans weather (long pants). When I go to Texas to visit my daughter I ask if I need to pack my jeans. I just talked to her and it going to be 11 degrees in Austin tonight - definitely jeans weather.

Quote from: S&S RR on January 14, 2024, 12:19:15 PMGood morning.  We have blue skies and this big orange thing in the sky here, today. Single digit temperatures but I'm going to take a walk outside and get some fresh air.  Modeling to follow, inside where it is warm.

I believe everyone here is getting it, but just in case I released Volume 3 of the F&SM Structure Encyclopedia, yesterday. If you didn't get it send me a PM and I will let you know how to get it.  This is all of the F&SM pictures that I have taken over the past couple decades all reorganized and in full resolution (zoomable). I'm already hard at work on Volume 4. At the rate that George is making changes who knows how many volumes there will be.

Good morning!  Well - Dr. Jeff didn't keep all the snow for himself this time - we got hit pretty hard when the storm got to Michigan.  Wet heavy stuff - broke the tops out of two of my hemlock trees. We were on generator power for a little while.  Plowing is on the agenda this morning.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Good afternoon.  We got about an inch of snow and they are predicting 6 inches more with cold temps. to keep it on the ground this next week.  I'm spending my day working on the railroad.

How many days to go Bob?

Good afternoon.  Bob as you approach retirement my advice is to not grow up. In retired life we either become grumpy old men or enjoy our second childhood. I decided to play with trains and spend time with my Grandkids.

As for winter so far this year here, very mild.  We got about a half inch of snow last night which is now slush because it is raining.  Rain in January is pretty rare in Michigan, in my experience. This year it has rained almost every day in January, so far.  I live in Michigan where my Native American friend says that his people have been dealing with climate change for 14,000 years. I'm not going to sell my plow.

Frank please take good care of those plants, they are beautiful.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Good morning!  The little bit of snow that we got yesterday is now gone. I have used the plow once so far this year, in October. Technically I guess that was last year. ;) Not complaining but it sure has been a strange winter, so far.  All depends on the jet stream for us, right now everything is going South of the Great Lakes. As Grandma used to say, this to will pass.

I have been spending a lot of time in the train room, I'm going through one of those highly motivated periods where I'm getting things done.

I hope everyone has a great day,

Good evening!  I spent the day working on my layout, great way to spend a snowy Sunday.

Big party at my brother's house tomorrow for the Michigan game.  I have been a Michigan fan since my brother attended and graduated from there twice (Masters Degree).  It's okay for Michigan Tech. graduates to be fans of both schools, different football league.  Even my daughter and wife can be Michigan fans tomorrow - Michigan State Grads. I don't know how any of this is going to work when the big 10 becomes the big ??  - who knows how many teams there will be. Anyway it's about the only thing that I will watch on TV - DDR to get rid of the commercials.

I hope everyone has a great weekend - so far no plowing required for our huge snow storm.

Quote from: S&S RR on January 06, 2024, 12:50:28 PMGood afternoon.  There is a lot of glue drying on the Superior & Seattle Railroad, today.  I'm in one of those time periods where I just want to build stuff.  I just came out of the train room for lunch.  I hope everyone has a great day.
I just looked out the window - no snow to plow here, so far.
