Hi All:
Will be building the Sierra West Logging camp. My friend just wants me to build the structures with out bases so he can install them on the layout easier. It would be a rather large diorama.
I think I will start with Main street.
Karl
Hi All:
Here isa A photo of the kit I will be starting with.
Karl
I sure will be following this Karl Build.
Jim
Hey Karl,
I can't wait to see what you can do with this kit. It should be amazing.
;D ;D 8)
I'll be following.
Karl
Great kit! I will be following along.
Karl, This should be a good one to follow.
Looking forward to seeing what you'll do with this one Karl. :)
I'll be following along as well Karl.
Hi Jim, Bruce, Curt, john, Steve, Greg And Mark:
Glad to have you guys aboard. We shall see its my first Sierra West Kit. Parts for the hotel are laid out and read for stain and paint. Here's A photo of said parts.
Karl
Hi All Wood is stained and drying.
Karl
Well Karl this should be real interesting! Especially with your talent!
Are you going to follow the manual or do your own coloring thing??
Jerry
Hi Jerry:
I'm doing my own thing. It says peeling paint finish. I do not like the peeling paint effect. I have the front and back walls done. Hope they look OK. let me know OK guys. Boards are not glued to walls per instructions. I used 3M #465 Double adhesive tape. Probably cut the time in half. Plus no oozing glue between joints. Boardsa are stained with A&I. Doors & windows are Floquil Earth
Karl
Great kit. Very nice weathering, and assembly.

Looking good sir. I'm amazed at how fast you work but you never take the shortcuts or get sloppy. I'm wondering how many hours a day to you get in? Two more years at Menards and I'll have a lot more time.

Really nice modeling Karl.
I love it Karl. Did you use Brett's pastel and alcohol technique?
This, like all of your builds, is wonderful. But it has a very different "feel". Most of your stuff looks Eastern. This one looks Western to me...tribute to Sierra West...Great work!

Looks fantastic Karl.
Karl what technique are you using on the oil tanks and tallish tanks? The kit I'm working on is from 2000's and Brett had a different technique I think. Just curious if you're using the Sierra West instructions for the tanks?
Lynn:
They are sprayed with Hardware Store Spray Paint. Probably Flat Black and Red Oxide.
