Title: The Wedge building (AKA Pop's Bar) a Tom Yorke kit
Post by: fbernard65 on June 08, 2019, 01:27:38 PM
Hi,

I am in process of building a new HO scale Tom Yorke kit.  The kit is sold exclusively through Branline Trains.  They have an ebay store if you are interested.
He has many other HO and O scale Yorke kits for sale.  The kit is all resin and all of the beautiful stone and stucco detail is cast right into the casting.  Here is where I am with the build so far.  The cornice has been installed on the building and the seam has been filled in with Spackle.  The castings have been given a light coat of white primer.

I'm following this one, Frank. I love the cast walls type of building. Eager to see what you do with it.

After a busy week, I was able to get a bit more done on the building.  All of the weathering and coloring was done with Panpastels.  They are a great medium for coloring.

A bit more progress. I got the foundation/sidewalk painted with initial weathering. It was painted with a combination of Home Decor Chalk paint, Oatmeal and Castle. I used a sponge and mixed the colors directly on the sponge. Once this was dry, I again weathered the casting with the Panpastels. Sorry for the crappy pics. I had to take them indoors but you should be able to get the idea of where it is going.

I like the effect of the chalk paint on the sidewalk and may try that. To date I have been using the same color for my sidewalks but want to change it up.  Concrete sidewalks have a tremendous amount of variety in color and texture from age and conditions, I have noticed.

Here are a few more pics. The roof is installed. Needs a bit more weathering. The decals are put on the walls but require final dulling spray but I could not find my dullcote. Time to buy more. There is a bit more to do then I can call it done.

Nice results!  I always have liked those small businesses--you can fit lots of interest into a small block.

Thanks for all the kind words.  As far as what is next, it will either be this kit in O scale, a different O scale Tom Yorke build or a scratchbuild in HO.  Need to decide soon.
